چکیده

This paper proposes an estimation method for the delay time, the direction of arrival, and the signal strength of multiple delayed waves, which are important parameters characterizing the multiple delay characteristics of mobile radio communication systems. The proposed method is an estimation method in which the superresolution and higherorder statistics are used as the guiding principle. The frequency characteristics of the multiple propagation path environment are observed by a linear array antenna, and estimated by the modified matrix pencil (MMP) technique, by generating the virtual correlation matrix from the result of processing of the fourth-order cumulants. The method can estimate at least twice as many delayed waves as when the second-order moment is used, if the number of observation points on the frequency axis and the number of antenna elements are the same. A method is also proposed in which the error in the generation of the virtual correlation matrix is reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by computer simulation. © 1999 Scripta Technica, Electron Comm Jpn Pt 1, 82(12): 30–39, 1999

Implementation of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms by means of GPU-parallel processing in the Kuda environment (Research Article)

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of audio signals is critical in different areas, including electronic war, sonar, etc. The beamforming methods like Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR), Delay-and-Sum (DAS), and subspace-based Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) are the most known DOA estimation techniques. The mentioned methods have high computational complexity. Hence using...

JRDF Algorithm for Joint Range-DOA-Frequency Estimation of Mixed Near-Field and Far-Field Sources

This paper presents an effective joint range-DOA-frequency (JRDF) estimation method based on fourth-order cumulants for multiple mixed near-field sources and far-field sources impinging on a symmetric uniform linear array, named as JRDF algorithm. Making use of the proposed method, range-DOA-frequency can be effectively estimated by the same eigen-pair of a defined “information matrix” construc...

Experiment Performance of DOA Estimators Based on Fourth-order Cumulants

Direction-of-arrival estimation is one of the most important issues in the signal processing field, and fourthorder cumulants are used for DOA estimation by the motivation of the attractive fact that the higher-order cumulants of all kinds of Gaussian processes are identically zero. Because of the complexity of the computation for fourth-order cumulant, downsizing the cumulant matrix has attrac...

Direction of Arrival Estimation Based on Fourth-order Cumulant Using Propagator Method

In this paper direction-of-arrival estimation (DOA) of multiple narrow-band sources, based on higher-order statistics using propagator, is presented. This technique uses fourth-order cumulants of the received array data instead of second-order statistics (autocovariance) and then the so-called propagator approach is used to estimate the DOA of the sources. The propagator is a linear operator wh...

Subspace-based method for joint range and DOA estimation of multiple near-field sources

A subspace-based method for joint range and DOA (direction-of-arrival) estimation of multiple near-field sources is presented. The proposed method uses fourth-order cumulants, and the range and DOA parameters are directly given by the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of a constructed matrix. Compared with some available methods, the 2D parameters are automatically paired and the loss of array apert...
